Starts Monday September 13th 6:15 PM at the church. From the much-loved and respected author and speaker Beth Moore comes a character study of John, just for students. The Fourth Gospel called John the “disciple whom He loved.” Certainly, the Lord loved all of His followers, but his relationship with John was unique. Through this six-session study, teens will explore the powerful connection between them. Designed to show Jesus through the eyes of John, this study resource teaches youth to apply the principles of John’s life to develop a special spiritual intimacy of their own.

Dear Intercessors,
Thanks so much for praying for me, Mary Ann, Mark Breckenridge and Ed Maina,
along with the many volunteers who arrived at Sturgis to reach out to the lost.
Below is a recap written by Don and Rhea Overbey, our hosts.
Friends,
We completed our 3rd Annual "Music for the Soul" Concerts earlier this week. It
was AWESOME! God provided everything we needed from the musicians, to the
workers, to ministers to talk to people, to the finances we needed. As we were
assembling the stage, people walked by asking, "when is the music going to
start." We gave away 2000 CDs and people were very receptive to the music. Our
Musicians were the Tony Loeffler Band wife, Mary Ann (Tony, Ed Maina, Mark
Breckenridge),
Tony Loeffler, Mark Breckenridge and Ed Maina
Rev. Jimmie Bratcher Band wife, Sherri (Jimmie, Tim Gonzalez, Dave Autry,
Craig Kew), and Terry Fellers. Staff included Wayne Alexa Harrelson, Marshall
Rouse, Mark Tomlin, Rick Moore, Doug Cindy Barnes, Catfish Angelfish, Ray,
Brandon, and Phillip.
Most of the staff, musicians, and volunteers. Some had to leave.
Here are some highlights:
We had one man from North Carolina, excitedly run up to Don. He had been here
last year, had talked to Don and was given a "Bike Blessing" CD. He hit a very
low point in his life on 8/30/09 and listened to the CD and changed his life. He
said this is the best year he has had; He has not had a drink of alcohol and has
repaired his relationship with his daughter and family.
Volunteers working the streets while the music is being performed.
One Biker came from Great Bend, KS. and visited with a number of our staff. Two
of them he had partied with in the past. He accepted the Lord.
Taking our ministry van, Rhea went with Brother Brent and a couple from the
Laboring Few to Rapid City to get food. On the outskirts of Rapid City, the van
blew a belt. We pulled into a truck stop and waited while Wayne, Alexa,
Marshall arrived. They brought the right belt, but could not figure out how to
put it on without a diagram. Two men and their wives walked by and asked if we
needed help. They were a mechanic and his son from Wisconsin and knew exactly
how to put the belt on. They would not accept any money, but we had an
opportunity to visit with them. We went to the Food Warehouse and a truck had
just arrived and we were able to get several items that would not have been
available if we had arrived earlier. That's GOD!
There was a couple from Florida, who were here last year and observed what we
were doing. The Lord laid on their hearts to bring bottles of water with a label
stating, "Living Water," to give a way.
Another man had a wreck when he hit a deer. He believed he was alive because he
drank the "Living Water" and came back to say thanks. Several of the men
ministered to him and he was lead to the Lord.
On Monday, a man and his wife from New York walked by the "free" table and the
wife saw the "Texas Heat" Album by Tony Loeffler that her husband, Kenny had
played on. When Tony arrived Kenny played several songs with the band and had a
good visit with the Loeffler's.
We had an alcoholic come for food and needed a place to stay. He was sick with
DT's. He came to Sturgis to find a job and couldn't. He went out the next night
and got beat up, spending the night in the emergency room. Then another man who
had a great deal of misfortune had spent the previous night under a bridge and
needed a place to stay. We had extra tents and let both men stay with us.
There was a lot of ministry going on the entire time and a lot of things that we
weren't aware of. We prayed with people, served over 400 meals, served people in
anyway we could. God will take it from here!!!!!
Thank You so very much for your prayers for us!!! This Ministry is funded
totally by donations and we appreciate your faithfulness in giving to help us
fund our ministry projects!!! We have Chautauqua Co. Biker's Weekend in
Cedarvale 9/10 to 9/12 and Joplin, MO. 9/18 9/19 coming up. We again covet
your prayers and donations. May God Richly Bless each one of you,
Don Rhea Overbey, Overbey Ministries

Solid Rock Ministry Update

Thank you for praying,
On June 30th, Mary Ann and I legt Florida for what was to be an 8 week road trip
filled with lots of ministry. We left Florida with enough income to make only
the beginning part of the trip. The assurance we had, was that the Lord was
leading us. Finances began to arrive while we were in NJ and we were greatly
encouraged. Moving on from there, we had a few problems come up with the
trailer and our tires had to be replaced along with a new alignment. Since we
didn't have all the income needed for the trip, this added some concern.
Amazingly and I am sure it was because of your faithful prayers, finances
continued to arrive during our entire trip. One of the most encouraging moments
was while we were on our way to Montana and were close to the Shelby prison, a
special financial gift arrived. The person who sent it had no idea, we were in
need of some help to get back across the country. It was such an encouragement
to me and Mary Ann especially in view of the fact that one of our churches had a
mis-communication and our schedule was cancelled at the last moment. We were
looking toward that event to help offset some of our costs to get home. The
Lord had us covered in spite of what occurred.
At the Shelby Prison somewhere between 50 and 60 men raised their hands in an
open yard event to receive the Lord. Please pray for these men. Also, we
(Catfish, David Hafer and I) had an opportunity to share with a small men's
bible study where the Lord powerfully ministered to the group. In the evening,
I did a concert in the yard of the Hafer's property. It was right on Lake Mary
Ronan and the people were so blessed. It was one of those times where you
wonder if anything is going on in the spirit. However, after the event was
over, I was quite shocked at all that was going on in the spirit. Perhaps I was
so tired from Sturgis and the Shelby prison.

Tony giving a special concert on Lake Mary Ronan on the Hafer's property/
Now, we are on our way to GA to finish the last leg of this trip. Pray for our
time of worship as I will be leading the folks in music. Also, please pray for
our last two trips of 2010. I leave for Cuba on Oct 1st or 2nd for 7 days. The
daughter of a very good friend of mine recently passed away and I hope to bring
the comfort of God into this situation. Please pray for a confirmation of
salvation on this trip as the discussion have been quite interesting from my
last visit. Also in Oct., we will make another trip to NJ for our annual
Mission's conference.
There are special financial needs for both Cuba and NJ. Please pray for this
need and if you care to help some, you can either mail a check MARKED "Cuba/NJ"
or go online and make a donation by clicking on any of the DONATE buttons
located on many of our pages. You can do this by credit card, check or Pay
Pay.
Once again, thank you so much for you faithfulness. You mean so much to this
work of the Lord. Without your prayers, we accomplish nothing. Here is a
little photo I took in a restaurant that reminded us to make our requests known
to the Lord.

The week before field preparation seminar was one of much reading. Three
books in one week is far above my typical average. Im preparing for
ordination right now and have about three weeks to read three more books
for that. Perhaps Ill comment about them later. But for now I will share a
couple of thoughts about Ministering Cross-Culturally by Lingenfelter, Let
the Nations be Glad by Piper, and How to Learn Any Language by Farber.
Lingenfelters Ministering Cross-Culturally was a short and easy read.
Toward the beginning of the book, the reader answers a fairly long list of
questions designed to identify values and general thinking patterns. The
remainder of the book demonstrates how values and thinking patterns effect
ministry and helps the reader identify potential cultural pitfalls a person
might encounter when interacting and trying to minister with and to people
who differ from him. Even if you dont move to the mission field you might
find this book helpful, potentially revealing that someone you always found
obnoxious simply processes things differently than you do. Or the book
might also help you understand a different American ethnic group that you
rub shoulders with at work. At the very least, Lingenfelter will help you
pray better for missionaries who are living with whole people groups who
think about the world in very different ways than Americans.
Pipers book, Let the Nations be Glad, was both inspiring and thought
provoking. The first several chapters on prayer and suffering were
especially helpful. The very long chapters in which Piper makes a
compelling case for the necessity of conscious faith in Christ for
salvation and the reality of hell as a permanent place of conscious torment
were not as valuable to me as I am quite convinced of those biblical
doctrines, but in time the chapters might serve as helpful reference tools,
if I have to engage someone who denies those realities. If you read nothing
else, read the chapter on prayer. It will likely expose a misuse of your
sole means of communicating with God in a way that will both shame and
motivate you to know Him better.
Farbers book, How to Learn Any Language, was definitely the funnest of the
three to read. The first third of the book anecdotally makes the case for
learning foreign languages—an argument that needs to be read by almost
every American. The rest of the book gives strategies for actually learning
languages. Some of the strategies, such as the using the Pimsleur Method
(which Farber seemed unable stop praising) are too expensive for us to use
right now. Others are so out of date that they are no longer available. But
overall most of his strategies seemed well thought out, helpful, and
attainable. I sure plan to give them a try during language school. If youve
ever thought about learning another language, or would like to, but think
you cant, read this book.
