About Group

One idea sparks thousands of ideas.

In the early ‘70s Thom Schultz was wearing plaid bellbottoms. He was also a real youth leader with a real challenge: How can we be better at helping teenagers experience a genuine, life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ?

Thom saw a need—a gaping, yawning, scratch-your-head need. So in 1974 he took a typewriter, a spare room, and five-hundred bucks, and dived into exploring new ways to help people experience God’s love.

Sure, Thom’s mustache has come and gone over the years. (It’s currently gone.) But one thing remains the same: Group’s tireless commitment to ignite incredible

What Group Does

If your church does it, we’ve probably got it.

It’s been said that tool companies don’t sell drills; they sell holes.

The same goes for Group. We don’t just sell books, curriculum, training, Bibles, software, etc. We’re in the business of making you even better at what you do in ministry. We want you to feel joy and fulfillment as you connect people with Jesus.

That said, Group does offer a wide range of resources and services for
just about every area of church ministry: children’s ministry, youth ministry, adult small groups, women’s ministry, pastoral ministry, and more.

The Group Difference

Why do Group experiences make such a difference?

The fact that Group resources actually work is not a fluke.
Not a fad. Not a fantasy. They’re the real deal. They genuinely help people of all ages know, love and follow Jesus.

How? We do it like Jesus did. We start with the Bible and use creative activities to help people experience God’s Word and apply it to life. So when children, youth or adults experience a Group lesson, they don’t just hear it. They do it!

We call it the R.E.A.L. approach to learning:

Relational

Group’s resources encourage learners to interact with each other, which makes learning more effective AND helps build Christian friendships.

Experiential

With Group’s resources, learners don’t just listen or read—
they actually experience the lesson. So biblical principles stick with them up to 9 times longer!

Applicable

Every resource incorporates life application, because Christians should be both hearers and doers of the Word.

Learner-based

Different people learn in different ways, so Group’s resources provide a variety of methods to draw people closer to Jesus.
